Size guide

A UK 5 is not a UK 5 across two different makers. That is why every style on this site lists its insole length in centimetres, per size, rather than asking you to trust a label.

How to measure your foot

Stand on a sheet of paper with your heel against a wall, in the socks or tights you would wear with the shoes. Mark the paper at the tip of your longest toe — which is not always the big one. Measure from the wall to the mark in centimetres. Do both feet and use the larger number; almost nobody is symmetrical.

Measure at the end of the day. Feet are measurably bigger in the evening, and that is the size you want to be comfortable in.

How to pick the size

Buy the size whose insole is 5 to 8 millimetres longer than your foot. That gap is what stops your toes hitting the end when you walk downhill or when your feet swell. Less than 5 mm and they will feel short by the afternoon; more than 10 mm and your foot slides forward.

If you fall between two sizes, take the larger. A boot that laces or a shoe with a strap will take up the slack; one that is too short will not give.

UK, US and insole length

UK US EU Insole (cm)
3 5.5 36 22.5
4 6.5 37 23.4
5 7.5 38 24.2
6 8.5 39 25.1
7 9.5 40 25.9
8 10.5 41 26.8

These are the standard conversions. The figure that matters is the insole length on the product page, because that is the one we have measured for that particular style.

If it still does not fit

Thirty days to send them back, unworn and in the box. Return postage is yours to cover — we say so here rather than in the small print. Once your return reaches us the refund is issued within three working days, the price of the item plus the standard delivery you paid, to the card you paid with.

If you measured, ordered the size we pointed you to, and it still does not fit, tell us. A person replies within one working day, Monday to Friday, and we will sort it out.
